Cosmo Wundergraph

Cosmo Wundergraph is a suite of software to manage federated APIs. It supports GraphQL federation, a schema registry and a series of tools to deal with schema migrations, deploys, analytics and tracing.

We are trialling this because the intermediary team is working on a POC to test it.

The main reason for using a federated approach in a GraphQL schema is when you have a single user experience, with a single GraphQL endpoint to ease the frontend development and streamline the user journey, while having on the backend, many teams are responsible for different parts of the schema.

GraphQL federation allows a unified API while maintaining separate responsibilities for different schema parts. It provides a proper way for teams to work together without coordinating as much as with a shared API repository approach (which is a nightmare regarding separation of concerns).
